How Now Brown Cow is a 4-piece funky, groovin', jazzy powerhouse playing original and all improvised instrumental funked up grooves in and around Seattle for over 10 years. The band is often compared to modern bands like Vulfpeck, Soulive and Galactic as well as vintage groups like The Brand New Heavies, Herbie Hancock & The Headhunters, Average White Band, Tower of Power and The Meters. How Now Brown Cow have a funky blend of "jazz" with a groove and elements of Afrobeat, 70s exploitation soundtracks (Shaft, Foxy Brown) and soul, that is compelling yet chill at the same time.

How Now Brown Cow is Brad Schrandt (sax/flute), Donovan Pfeifer (drums) and Dave Kurtiak (bass) and Ms. Kerry O'Connor (keys). 

The How Now Brown Cow III is a new subset of the band that will be doing limited engagements as a trio. The new 3-piece format will allow for more experimentation with the same funk filled jazz improvisations. Look for our first show 9/07/23 at the Triple Door Musicquarium.
